Who is this counselling for?

This service is for people who live in Islington or are registered with an Islington GP and are seeking counselling following a bereavement. You can refer yourself directly to us or be referred by a GP or another professional.

What is offered?

You can receive up to 10 individual bereavement counselling sessions. Your sessions give you a confidential space to talk about the person who died, your relationship with them and how the bereavement may be affecting you. You can also explore other experiences, relationships or changes in your life that feel important.

There is no particular way you are expected to use your sessions. Your counsellor will work with what feels important to you.

What does it cost?

There is no cost to you for counselling through this service. Your sessions are fully funded.

How do I get referred?

You can refer yourself directly to CCIWBS. You can also be referred by a GP or another professional.

What happens after I am referred?

We review every referral and will contact you to arrange an assessment. This gives us an opportunity to understand what has brought you to counselling, consider whether our service is appropriate for you and answer any questions you have.

If the service is appropriate, we will explain the next steps and match you with a counsellor when a suitable space becomes available.

If another type of support would be more appropriate, we will discuss this with you.
