Donations Appeal 2026 - Our funding is changing but grief doesn't wait. Click here for more information.

How we are funded
Our bereavement counselling service is funded through four important sources of income, and each one plays a part in keeping the service available to people who need it. From October 2026, public contracts will cover around half of the cost of running our services, compared with around 75% previously. This change follows changes to funding through NHS Talking Therapies Camden.
While our public funding has reduced, the need for bereavement counselling has not. We therefore need to raise a greater proportion of our income from other sources. Together, public contracts, grants, donations and other fundraising enable us to continue providing professional bereavement counselling and support to our local communities.
Contracts
CCIWBS has two contracts with NHS authorities: NHS Talking Therapies Camden and Islington Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

CCIWBS will offer specialist NHS Talking Therapies Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) for 75 people living in Camden from 1 October 2026 until 30 September 2027. An on-going contract as part of the Accept Consortium ensures that 157 people living in Islington can access bereavement counselling via the service.

Low-Cost Bereavement Counselling Service
CCIWBS offers access to low-cost bereavement counselling for those who are unable to access the service via any of the fully funded routes. Contributions towards the cost of counselling range from £25 to £60 on a self-select scale (we will not ask for proof of income).

Grants and Other Funders
CCIWBS continues to raise funds to keep bereavement counselling support accessible for people living in the charity's area of benefit: Camden, Islington, City of London and Westminster.

We are delighted to share that the National Lottery Community Fund has given CCIWBS £19,395 to provide traumatic bereavement support for clients who may not be able to access bereavement support via other available funding routes.

This crucial support is available until September 2027 and is dedicated to supporting up to 42 clients in the boroughs of Camden, Islington and Westminster with one-to-one bereavement counselling sessions.
We want to extend our thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund for their support in this critical work. The award is not just funding; it's a lifeline for many who often suffer in isolation.
Donations
Donations from individuals help us maintain our services and make counselling available to people who might otherwise be unable to afford it. We welcome both one-off and regular donations, which can be made securely through our website.

Legacies
Some people also choose to support CCIWBS by leaving a gift in their will. Legacies, of any size, can help us continue providing bereavement and loss counselling for future generations.
