NHS-funded counselling in Camden
We work in partnership with NHS Talking Therapies Camden to provide NHS-funded counselling after a bereavement. If you are eligible, you can receive up to eight individual counselling sessions with a qualified senior counsellor at no cost to you.
Who is this counselling for?
This service is for people who live in the London Borough of Camden or are registered with a Camden GP. Following referral we will assess whether this type of counselling is suitable for you.
What is offered?
You can receive up to eight counselling sessions. Your sessions provide a confidential space to talk about what you are experiencing after a bereavement or loss.
What kind of counselling will I receive?
The approach used is called Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD). It is a form of counselling used within NHS Talking Therapies and included within NICE guidance on psychological treatments for depression.
Your counsellor will listen and work together with you to explore your feelings, experiences and what they mean to you. They will not tell you what to do or how you should feel.
Although depression is part of the formal name of the counselling approach, your sessions are centred on you and the bereavement experiences you wish to talk about.
Who will my counsellor be?
You will see one of our qualified senior counsellors who is trained to provide PCE-CfD within NHS Talking Therapies. You will meet with the same counsellor throughout your counselling, providing a consistent and confidential counselling relationship.
What does it cost?
There is no cost to you.
How do I get referred?
You may be referred to CCIWBS through NHS Talking Therapies Camden or by your GP.
What happens after I am referred?
Once we receive your referral, we will contact you about the next steps, explain how the service works and give you an opportunity to ask questions.
Your counselling remains part of the NHS Talking Therapies pathway while it is delivered by CCIWBS. This means some NHS requirements form part of the service. We will explain these clearly before your counselling begins.
